Rangers Agree To Terms With Mats Zuccarello Aasen

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced on Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms with free agent forward Mats Zuccarello Aasen. ?Mats is a highly skilled player with excellent hockey sense,? stated Sather. ?He has produced at every level he has played, and we think his offensive abilities, both as a scorer and play maker, make him a valuable asset to the organization.? Zuccarello Aasen, 22, skated in 55 games with MODO of the Swedish Elite League (SEL) this past season, registering 23 goals and 41 assists for 64 points, along with 62 penalty minutes. The 5-9, 170-pounder has appeared in 90 career SEL games with Modo, recording 35 goals and 69 assists for 104 points, along with 10 penalty minutes. Internationally, the Oslo, Norway native has represented his country in several tournaments, including the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, finishing third on the team in scoring with three points (one goal and two assists) in four contests.

The Sabres agreed to terms on a one-year contract with forward Mike Grier, according to an Associated Press report. Grier, who could have become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, reached the deal with the Sabres on Monday.

Maple Leafs Agree To Terms With Marlies GM Nonis

Brian Burke, president and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that Dave Nonis and the club have agreed to terms on a restructured contract. In his current role as the Maple Leafs? senior vice-president of hockey operations and GM of the Marlies of the AHL, Nonis? contract will run through the 2011-12 season. Nonis, 43, joined the Maple Leafs? management team on December 6, 2008. Prior to joining the Maple Leafs, he was the Ducks? senior advisor of hockey operations. The native of Burnaby, British Columbia was senior vice-president and GM of the Canucks for four years (2004 to 2008). He joined the Canucks in 1998 as senior vice-president, director of hockey operations after serving four seasons as the NHL?s manager of hockey operations. With the NHL, Nonis helped craft the 1994 Collective Bargaining Agreement and worked with the league?s arbitration team, assisting clubs in preparing for arbitration, researching salaries and interpreting contract language.
